Soap Crayons #1
Ingredients: 1 3/4 cup Ivory Snow 50 drops food coloring 1/4 cup water	Method: Mix water and soap flakes together. Add food coloring and thoroughly mix. Put mixture into an ice cube tray and set aside to harden. Break or cut into pieces.
Soap Crayons #2
Ingredients: liquid food coloring for each color crayon 2 tablespoons hot water 1 cup soap flakes	Method: For each color you would like, put two tablespoons of hot water and one cup of soap flakes into a bowl. Add as many drops of food coloring to the mix as you think necessary. Stir the soap mixture until it thickens. Press spoonfuls of the first color of soap into sections of the ice tray. Mix enough soap in other colors to fill the entire tray, repeating the first two steps. Let the soap crayons dry for one or two days. Gently bang the ice tray to loosen the crayons.
Colourful Scrap Crayons
Ingredients: a variety of crayons broken up into small pieces any shape of small metal baking mould (eg: chocolate moulds come in many different shapes)	Method: Place broken up crayons in each mould. Bake in a 350 degree oven until the crayon pieces have melted. Remove moulds from oven and pop the new crayons out when the wax has semi-cooled.
Sidewalk Chalk
Ingredients: 2 cups water 2 cups plaster of Paris 2 tablespoons wet or dry tempera paint toilet paper tubes duct tape	Method: Use duct tape to cover one end of each toilet paper tube. Mix all ingredients and set aside for 5 minutes. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper or foil. Place tubes upright on paper with open end facing up. You might want to tape the tubes upright onto the wax paper or foil to make it more steady. Pour mixture into holders. Leave standing until chalk mixture is almost firm. Rip off the toilet paper tubes and let the sidewalk chalk dry for about 2 more hours.
Eggshell Sidewalk Chalk
Ingredients: 4-5 eggshells 1 teaspoon flour 1 teaspoon very hot tap water food coloring (optional)	Method: Wash and dry eggshells, put in a bowl and grind into powder. Throw out any large pieces. Pour flour and hot water and 1 tablespoon of eggshell powder in another bowl. Mix until mixture looks like paste. Add food colouring now if you’d like. Shape and press the paste into the shape of chalk sticks. Roll up tightly in a strip of paper towel and allow to dry for about three days. *This chalk is only good for sidewalks.
Gelatin Plastic
Ingredients: 3 envelopes unflavored gelatin 9 tablespoons or 75 ml. water 3-5 drops of food colouring flat plastic lid from 24 ounce coffee can, or a lid similar in size with a rim cookie cutters plastic drinking straw ice cream buckets	Method: Mix the water and food coloring in a small pan over low heat. Add gelatin, stir continuously, and cook for 30 seconds until thickened. Pour the mixture into a plastic lid, push the air bubbles to the edge with a spoon and set aside for 45 minutes. Remove the gelatin from the lid, it should be flexible. Use cookie cutters to cut shapes out of the gelatin disc; or, use a scissors. Use straws to punch holes out of the shapes to make hanging ornaments. Dry creations on a cooling rack or hang them on a line. While drying the gelatin plastic tends to curl upwards, to prevent this take a plastic ice cream bucket, put a kitchen wipe or loosely woven cloth over the top and place your cut-outs and scraps on the cloth. Cut the center out of a lid that fits the bucket, put another wipe over the top of the gelatin shapes, then press the lid tightly over the top to hold the two sheets firmly in place Allow the shapes to dry completely between the sheets. An embroidery hoop will function in the same way. Should take 2 to three days to dry.
