Objective

Students will use pictures and phrases from a magazine to create a collage that represents their personality (who they are, what they like and don’t like, their future goals, etc.). This activity allows students to reflect on their lives as well as introduce themselves to their classmates.

Materials

• magazines
• glue
• scissors
• large pieces of paper

Method

• Ask students to flip through magazines and cut out pictures and phrases that they think represent their personality and life. Younger students may need verbal and graphic organizers, for example: “Find pictures of food that you love to eat and put them on this part of your paper”.
• Glue these onto a large piece of paper into a collage.
• Display and present the collages to the rest of the class. Ask students to explain why certain images and phrases were chosen.
