Students will practice changing the fractions in recipes so they can feed more people.
- a variety of simple recipes, you may want to ask students to bring their own recipes from home
- Ask students to examine their recipes and figure out how they could change their recipes to feed twice as many people. Brainstorm as a class for ideas.
- Once the class comes to a general consensus of the best way to do this, ask class to work on their own recipes. Change the recipe to feed 3X as many people, 4X, etc.. Try working the other way too, ask the students to change their recipes to feed 1/2 as many people, 1/4 as many, etc..
- Choose one of the recipes to make as a class. As a class adjust the recipe to feed the number of kids in the class.
