Objective
Students will practice their descriptive writing skills by designing and writing a menu for a fictional restaruant.
Materials
- construction paper
- crayons, pencil crayons, or markers
- samples of menus or magazines that have descriptions of food
Method
- Have students examine the menus and/or the magazine descriptions of foods. Look at the colours, pictures, and the words used. What makes the foods appealing?
- Keeping these techniques in mind, ask students to design their own menu. Pick foods that the restaraunt would specialize in, draw pictures for some of the foods, and have descriptions for all of them that would lure people into eating them.
