Objective

Students will examine and better understand a character and their traits by writing a letter from their point of view.

Materials

• any novel or picture book with a strong character

Method

• After reading the novel or picture book, as a class make a list of traits that the main character has. For older students, you may want to ask them to pick a character and list the traits on their own.
• After this is done, ask students to "become" this character and write a letter to another character in the book, keeping in mind their traits.
