Planning a Trip in Canada Using Mileage

Objective

Students will use the mileage charts on a map of Canada to plan a trip that will be possible within a pre-set mileage.

Materials

• photocopies of a road map of Canada

Method

• Explain to students that they have to plan a trip that will be between 1,000 to 2000 km (set distance to your own discretion). Within this trip the students have to visit at least two communities and have enough kilometres left to come back home.
• Have students map out their trip on the road map of Canada.
• Who has the least kilometres left?
